The wind picks up the leaves at dawn,
Blows their corpses round the lawn.
And I wouldn't want to go
'Cept the wind and the snow
Wont let me rest anymore....
Anymore.
The Hobo holds open his hand,
Offers me a piece of this land.
And I would go with the flow
'Cept the wind and the snow
Won't let me sleep any more
Anymore.
The river rushes through my plans,
Won't let me swim nor stand.
And I would let go
'Cept the wind and the snow
Wont let me die any more...
Anymore.
The earth is too hard to break,
The apple has defeated the snake.
And I wouldn't want to know
'Cept the wind and the snow
Has pounded my head till it aches...
Till it aches.
So I lit a fire under the morn,
Tried to burn up my scorn.
But it didn't want to glow
'Cause the wind and the snow
Won't let me smolder any more....
Anymore.
Put on my laughing boots,
Let me step gently over new green shoots.
And I know I have to go,
'Cause the wind and the snow
Just might keep me safe forever more...
Forever more,
