Goodnight Ladies…Ladies Goodnight

It has been a long day, I woke up tired, and it didn’t get much easier. I wish they would stop messing with clocks. I wasn’t quite sure what I needed to hear at this time of night, but threw on Transformer and hoped for the best, quickly realizing my random choice worked just fine.

Bad old Lou and his Berlin Burlesque freaky cool, was just the thing I needed to hear with Goodnight Ladies…it’s lazy sax, its night time on Broadway vibe, and Lou’s laconic vocals it just played out the day perfectly…..What is your favorite night-time listening?

It is strange how that works out, isn’t it! Sometimes you need the music to work out the frustrations of the day for you! I cant sleep with flicking tv light on, I just need some noise!

Lol… I sometimes turn off the volume and sleep with the tv flicker!! But light has always made me sleepy… I’m a natural vampire/night owl.

I get woken up by the street noise, I live in a pretty noisy 24 hour area of San Francisco, so tend to just stay up and write or listen to music, play the guitar, that kinda thing. I think I might have nightmares if I let that blue light flicker, you must be made of tougher stuff than me!

No. Seriously, dawn means sleep time to me. Working 9-5 is death to me! For safety, I have a hall light on at all times. If I know the source of noise, I can sleep through it – minus my cats.

I love SF!! Even with noise, it’s sooo beautiful! I’m down in Long Beach.

You really are a night owl! I wouldn’t be able to function! Long Beach is pretty lovely too. How are things down there right now? You all staying safe? SF is gorgeous, isnt it? I don’t live in a gorgeous part of the city, but a ten minute walk and I can be somewhere beautiful. I might do a blog post tomorrow, take some photos on a walk.

I would love to see photos! I had a friend who lived up above the Castro in a little crap apt.

Restaurant indoor dining (limited), movies, gyms, etc reopened today.

The school across the street reopens somewhere around the end of the month. I dread the traffic and noise.

I’m perfectly content to stay in my bubble till Cirque du Soliel comes back!!

The Castro is still pretty nice, but yes, lots of shit little apartments….just like mine…except Im not quite as lucky as to live there! Ill take a walk to the Marina and take some photos, Im due a long walk and some fresh air. Ive never seen Cirque du Soliel! Is it fun? It’s always noisy here, but I pity you…I don’t enjoy the noise of other people’s kids either…

NEVER SEEN CIRQUE?!?! Good lord, it’s AMAZING!!!! All of them!! I’ve seen nearly every pre-covid touring show, some LV resident shows, and a show that was supposed to be resident in Hollywood.

I was picked from the audience for the Zumanity (HARD R rayed show) orgy. A MAJOR highlight of my life!!!!

There are lots of vids on Prime and YouTube.

I think Varekai is the best to watch as video but there ars sooo many different themes. Whatever you 1st see live will always be your fave.

Amaluna was so amazing live that I saw it 3 times in 7 days!! I saw IRIS, the planned resident show in Hollywood 16 times. My plan was 60… but it closed after 1.5yrs.

I have prime, Ill make some time and sit and enjoy it, thank you for the recommendation. Who knows, maybe Ill get to see one live if the world gets back to normal.

I have a late night fondness for Harry Nilsson’s A Little Touch of Schmilsson In The Night, William Basinki’s Disintegration Loops & Bohren & der Club of Gore’s Piano Nights…but not all at once!

I’m glad to hear you don’t try and meld the three of those in what might be one of the more interesting mash ups! I’ve never really listened to Harry Nilsson, I think I’ll give him a chance today.

        🙂
I would never be able to sleep! HN’s one above ^ is so smooth; the sentiment & the orchestration in particular. Re: Transformer; a friend of mine played Perfect Day at his wedding and I remember thinking at the time ‘you reap what you so’ or something similar. It was over within the year. We played Goodnight Ladies – as kind of a wink & a joke – and for us we lasted 3 years! Now, I’m not blaming Lou or nothing like this, but it does make me wonder! (I’m stuck on Coney Island Baby these days and happier for it)
        🙂

Lou gets like that doesn’t he! Damn Lou! I love Lou….Perfect Day at a wedding sounds dangerous. His ode to heroin addiction doesn’t exactly seem like the right choice for a marital union! I think you should totally blame Lou, and his bad juju. I stick to the Velvets, occasionally making it over to Coney Island, Berlin, or New York. Glad to meet another Lou aficionado!
