Mountain Lion Wind

Mountain lion wind
Been whistling round our bed
And I don't know if it was something I said
Or that cold mountain lion wind

And I am back to where the sage brush grows
And the light don't fit me right
Oh that mountain lion wind.

Mountain lion wind
Been whistling round my head
And I don't know if I'm alive or dead
Or it's that mountain lion wind.

And I am back to where the trees are sparse
And the words are sharp as thorns
Blown by that mountain lion wind.

Mountain lion wind seems to have lost it's thread
Cause the lights are dark
And the stars hide their heads
From that mountain lion wind.

And I am back to where the mustang roam
And the earth is cracked and parched
From that cruel mountain lion wind.

Mountain lion wind
Breathes life into old injuries
And I don't know if more blood will be shed
By that mountain lion wind.

And I am back to where the rivers run red
And the sadness cracks my soul
In this cold mountain lion wind.

Mountain lion wind
Drags it's claws across my face
Yet I am still your favorite mistake
Howls that mountain lion wind.

And I am back to where the wild fires rage
And the vultures pick my bones clean
For that mountain lion wind.

Mountain lion wind
We lay in silent dread
Clinging onto life
Yet wishing we were dead
Back turned to the mountain lion wind.

And Minnesota seems like a lifetime away
And I long to go back there
Far from this mountain lion wind.
